How to learn about website localisation – a new course for translators
Website translation and localisation might be full of challenges, serious dangers and hidden traps. Nothing prepares better for this adventure than years of experience, but new translators or those who want to specialise in localisation can learn the tricks of the trade on courses or webinars. A good example of such a course is the Introduction to Website Localisation that has just been published on eCPD.
What’s in it for me?
If you’re a translator and want to take the first steps in localisation, this course will help you understand the ins and outs of website localisation. In 42 lectures I’ll take you on a journey through the website localisation process, cultural adaptation, digital genres, localisation of graphics and localisation testing. You’ll also learn about technology and tools needed to translate and localise websites and you’ll find out how to work with direct customers on a website localisation project. All in all, you’ll leave the course equipped with the skills required to tailor the web content to new markets and new target users.
How to start?
You can start the course any time and complete it at your own pace. You’ll need about 4 hours to watch the videos and complete the assignments. Of course, in case of questions I’m always there to help and explain any doubts to make your journey smoother and easier.
See you at eCPD!
Update from April 2020:
